A data backup is a spare copy of our files. There are two categories of backup: the first only creates an image of the data, the second is based on an actual copy of the data. Depending on our needs, if we want to keep our applications, we need a program that creates a data image. If, however, we only care about specific files, we need a program from the second category. Programs that create data images need a lot of disk space, because they save literally everything. They allow us to restore the entire system to its previous state. If you live in Kosakowo, Rumia, Mrzezino or Gdynia Pogórze, you can contact us and we will help you configure the program.

The best free data backup programs

There are both free and paid programs on the market for making backups. Free ones have far fewer features, which (in most cases) can be unlocked by buying a better version. Rest assured, though: without spending any money, we can still efficiently carry out all the necessary tasks.

1.EaseUS Todo Backup Free

Download link

EaseUS Todo Backup Free is the most frequently recommended free data backup program. It lets users easily create backups in a folder of their choice. It provides tools for backing up individual files as well as the entire system. The free version allows you to use all backup modes (full, incremental, differential and scheduled). The clear interface is one more reason to choose this software.

2.AOMEI Backupper Standard

Download link

AOMEI Backupper Standard is a program designed for home use which, thanks to its simple interface, should be no trouble to use. We get access to backups of files, folders, partitions, as well as whole disks or the system, plus restore options. If we want to move data to another storage device or are upgrading from an HDD to an SSD (more information at the link), this program also offers that option.

3.Macrium Reflect Free

Download link

The next program is Macrium Reflect Free. If we want to archive the entire system, it is fair to say we will not find a better free program. For backing up individual files it also works quite well. The package also includes: automatic data verification, backup compression so that backups take up less space, easy browsing of archived data, backup plan templates, scheduled backups and backup management tools. The interface is somewhat less clear than those of its predecessors.

4.SyncBackFree

Download link

The last free program on this list is SyncBack Free. It runs on all Windows systems from XP onwards. (On Windows XP only with SP3) The paid version of this program allows backups across different operating systems, for example between Windows and macOS or Android. SyncBackFree lets us easily archive data with file synchronisation and optional data compression, as well as restore files.

The best paid data backup programs

The previous 4 programs all have paid versions. So if something was missing but we liked the programs from the list above, it is worth checking whether the paid versions offer what we are looking for.

1.Paragon Backup & Recovery

Trial version link

The list of paid options opens with Paragon Backup & Recovery. If you are hoping for more speed, wider capabilities and reliability, this program is worth a look. It provides tools that precisely define the scope of the backup and perform differential or incremental backups. Differential backups save space, while incremental backups give more flexibility when restoring files. The program also has "filters" that make it easier to find missing or lost files.

The price is PLN 199.

2.Acronis True Image

Trial version link

Acronis True Image is just as good as Paragon Backup & Recovery; its greatest strengths are clarity and versatility. We can choose between a standard backup of individual files and folders, a full disk image, cloning, and continuous or scheduled backup. The backup can be encrypted and, as needed, stored on a hard drive or in the cloud.

Prices start at PLN 230.

3.Ferro Backup System

Trial version link

Here we have something that is ideal for business use. Ferro Backup System is a network application for backing up servers, workstations, computers and virtual machines. The program offers automatic data archiving and, in the event of a failure, allows files to be restored quickly. It also offers a rather interesting option of backing up open files, such as open mailboxes currently in use by employees.

Prices start at PLN 840 for 5 workstations.

Ashampoo Backup Pro 14

Manufacturer's website link

The last but no less interesting option in this list is Ashampoo Backup Pro 14. The interface is a pleasant surprise, with its attractive look and wide range of features. The program can back up specific files, entire partitions and the whole system. Backups run in the background without interfering with our work on the device. Backups can be saved to many different types of storage: a local drive, an external drive and the cloud. Data can be encrypted with a 256-bit AES key.

Prices start at PLN 100
